Fatty (cholesterol) deposits are harmless, flesh colored bumps that often appear near the eye area. At Renew+Refresh, we use thermocoagulation technology to safely remove common, superficial skin abnormalities. Thermocoagulation uses a high frequency current to pin-point heat energy to treat fatty deposits. The tiny needle point allows our skin care professionals complete accuracy, ensuring that only the treatment area is targeted.
Treating fatty deposits is a quick and relatively painless process. You may feel a slight pricking sensation as the current is discharged into the target area. The fatty deposit will be slightly red afterwards and light crusting will disappear, along with the deposit, within a few days.
Milia are white or yellow bumps (cysts) that are about 1-2 millimeters in size. They can form when keratin becomes trapped underneath the skin, or when ducts become clogged. Milia is typically found on the eyelids and face, though they can occur on other parts of the body. Some ingredients in skin care and make up products can cause milia. Lanolin, paraffin and petroleum oil are known to cause the formation of milia.
Milia is effectively treated with thermocoagulation, resulting in a bump free skin in as little as three days, though some stubborn milia may take a little longer. This is the best way to avoid scaring as milia should not be manually extracted by anyone not trained in this field. Our technique is so precise we can treat most that are on and around the eyes.
Following treatment of milia, one of our staff members can recommend products that do not contain milia causing ingredients including actives that help remove minor ones which are not yet visible on the surface.
Nail fungus (Onychomycosis) is a common condition that may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and crumble at the edge. At Renew+Refresh, we use a long pulse laser to target and destroy the fungus.
The laser produces heat that gasifies and decomposes the infected tissue which destroys the fungus and affected skin and nails. The heat from the laser sterilizes the area which further inhibits additional fungal growth. Long pulse lasers show markedly better results than other treatment modalities such as oral medications, which may cause systemic side effects, take months to see results and often require consistent treatment.
There is no recovery time associated with laser fungus removal, so you may return to your daily activities immediately after treatment. Call a member of the Renew+Refresh team to find out how you can benefit from laser fungus removal.
Did you know that there are over 100 different kinds of warts? At Renew+Refresh, we use laser technology to treat unsightly warts. Lasers are highly effective for treating warts as the laser’s beam generates high intensity heat that targets small blood vessels that feed the wart while simultaneously destroying the virus. Laser wart removal typically only takes one session for the wart to go away and multiple warts can be treated at once. The laser allows for great precision, so no surrounding skin is injured in the process.

Skin tags are small pieces of hanging skin that are commonly found in areas where the skin folds such as armpits, under the breasts, eyelids, thighs and the neck.
Occasionally, skin tags go away on their own, however most tags will remain and grow larger over time. Though generally not harmful, they may become uncomfortable. If you’re concerned about skin tags and want them removed, lasers are a safe and effective means of removing skin tags with minimal discomfort.
Patients may be tempted to try over-the-counter remedies which often leads to scarring, excessive bleeding, infection and the recurrence of the skin tag. It is best to leave skin tag removal to a professional.
