Menopause and your skin

During menopause, your body stops making as much collagen, you lose soft fat under your skin and your skins elasticity drops. Dryness can occur because of the hormonal shift and your oil glands aren’t as active.

Estrogen is such a big influencer in keeping your skins integrity intact. Once those hormonal levels start going awry you are probably thinking what can I do to help keep my skin happy and healthy?

First off start with eating lots of brightly coloured vegetables and fruit in every colour of the spectrum. Soy has been found to improve age related changes like thinning of the skin. Get your beauty sleep in, at least 8 hours a night to keep you feeling fresh and recharged.

Regarding your skincare routine. Retinol is a saving grace in helping rid your skin of wrinkles and any textural age-related issues. Always pair retinol with a sunscreen with at least a SPF of 30. Mr. Sun may seem friendly but is honestly no friend to your skin. Vitamin C helps fight pigment related issues and combats sun damage. Using a hyaluronic acid keeps your skin hydrated and plump for a youthful look. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, dehydrated skin makes you look aged and tired.

Remember your skin health is a commitment to yourself.
